Books On The Brain

Hello, friends! I’ve been keeping myself busy, working on new comics for my book. The image up above is one of several quick and sloppy test panels, trying to nail down the “look” for one of the new comics before I dive head first into the actual drawing. I drew this particular panel during a little video “hang out” I hosted on Google+, which I must admit, I’m really enjoying so far. You’re welcome to follow me over on Google+!

In addition to working on my book, I’ve decided to try to find a home for another book project. You may remember an article I wrote on this very blog about two months ago, Super Obvious Secrets That I Wish They’d Teach In Art School. A lot of people commented and sent emails suggesting that I expand that article into a full book. I think that would be fun! So, uh… anyone want to publish an expanded version of┬áSuper Obvious Secrets That I Wish They’d Teach In Art School, complete with illustrations and stuff? I should mention that it’s still getting 5,000 - 10,000 views a week and has hundreds of thousands of views total. I think a book version could do pretty well…

Someone pointed this photo out to me recently. Weird Al Yankovic reading the most recent issue of MAD Magazine. I wonder if he’s reading my comic!?

Oh! Hey! The San Diego Comic-Con is happening next weekend! I won’t be exhibiting at it, but you might catch me wandering around or goofing off with some of my cartoonist pals. And it’s still a month and a half away, but I’m beginning to prepare for the San Francisco Zine Fest, which I will be exhibiting at! It’ll likely be the only convention or festival I exhibit at this year. It’ll also be my first time visiting San Francisco, so I’m pretty excited. I plan on bringing a bunch of prints and maybe even some shirts. If you’re in San Francisco or plan on attending the zine fest and there’s something in particular from my store that you’d like me to bring, please let me know soon!
