HELLO My name is Phil McAndrew and I am an award-winning illustrator, a cartoonist and a writer. I am the author of CRYING IN FRONT OF YOUR DOG AND OTHER STORIES (Uncivilized Books, 2013). I illustrated the CAVEBOY DAVE series of graphic novels written by Aaron Reynolds (Viking, 2016 and 2018) and MONSTER SCIENCE by Helaine Becker (Kids Can Press, 2016). An art book collecting some of my work was published by Benign Kingdom in 2013.

I've contributed comics and humor to MAD Magazine, The New Yorker, and The Nib. For a while I had my own television show in development with Cartoon Network and I've worked as a freelance character designer and concept artist for animated projects at other television networks. I've given talks and written articles about drawing and creativity. I directed a music video. I have a BFA in illustration and drawing from Daemen College. I sometimes play drums in bands with my friends, most recently with The Nudes. I currently live in upstate New York with lots of books and trees.

AT THE MOMENT I recently finished illustrating a graphic novel and am taking on as many new projects and freelance assignments as I can handle.
